ABOUT

Area 3 Endurance, LLC is a coaching and team-based triathlon organization founded by USA Triathlon (USAT) certified coach Jon Yance. Based in Southern California, Area 3 Endurance works with endurance athletes to help them achieve a healthy balance between endurance training and everyday life. Because Jon believes each athlete is unique and there is no “one glove fits all” approach, he has designed Area 3 Endurance to help each athlete achieve his or her individual goals through customized coaching programs. Area 3 Endurance is always looking for determined athletes to become part of the team. Here’s what founder Jon Yance would like you to know about himself.

“I’ve always believed that if you put in the work, the results will come.” – Michael Jordan

From my formative years as a basketball player growing up in the 1980s, I admired Michael Jordan’s successes, work ethic and endeavors. Watching Jordan taught me that there is no secret potion for success in all aspects of life – and as a coach, I certainly believe that includes triathlon. Discipline, hard work and consistency will lead to you achieving things you never thought were possible in all aspects of life.

In 2010, I eagerly participated in my first sprint distance triathlon. Other than my running shoes, I borrowed everything from my brother to get me through one of the most physically and mentally challenging days of my life. Since crossing that finish line, my love and passion for the sport of triathlon has grown consistently and fervently.

As of 2018, I have raced all distances and achieved the following goals:

• Top 10% Ironman finisher
• Top 5% Ironman 70.3 finisher
• Top 2% half-marathon finisher
• Top 4% marathon finisher
• Multiple Ironman finisher and multiple Ironman All World Athlete

My experience and love of endurance sports has culminated in a passion to coach athletes to achieve things they never thought possible. My training philosophy is simple: Focus on building a strong foundation throughout the season. That foundation isn’t long endurance miles early in an annual training plan. Instead, we focus on developing strength, power and speed throughout the season to build durability before the long endurance miles.

When I’m not advising or coaching, I enjoy spending time with my wife, being a baseball dad to an amazing son and spending time as a gymnastics dad to a fearless little girl.

I look forward to meeting you soon! – Jon

I can do all things through CHRIST who strengthens me Phil 4:13“

My competitive drive has stemmed from a lifetime passion for fitness and sports. I played softball through high school and in college, where my team earned a state championship.

The next chapter of my life led me to becoming a wife and mother of three amazing children. Even though my life became my family, I continued staying active by working out at the gym and running. As my passion for running increased, I began to fall in love with endurance sports. Pushing myself further I got involved in triathlons. Almost immediately I achieved success and continued racing and training myself. After a couple years, I decided to seek out a coach. This is when my paths crossed with Coach Jon Yance. Through his guidance, I reached new heights I had never thought were possible. I qualified for the Ironman World Championship in Kona and my second Ironman 70.3 World Championship.

Now under the leadership and coaching of Jon Yance, I am excited to help others achieve their personal goals. I look forward to guiding and training driven athletes on their quest to competing in their own personal championship.

As of 2018, I have raced all distances and achieved the following goals:

• Kona Ironman World Championship qualifier & finisher
• Ironman 70.3 World Championship qualifier & finisher
• Top 1% Ironman finisher
• Top 1% Ironman 70.3 finisher
• Multiple Ironman finisher and Ironman Gold All World Athlete

I look forward to meeting you soon! – Rebekah Walker
